Independence
Day, June 12,1898. This is the day that brought happiness to millions of
Filipinos after being colonized by the people who wants to own our country.
This is also the day that our flag was first raised. This is the day when we
achieved freedom yet it leaves us scars and painful memories of the past. The
day to remember the sacrifices of the people who fought for our freedom.
Celebrating this day is very
important for us, Filipinos, because this shows respect to our country, flag
and to our heroes. We should be very thankful to our heroes and our ancestors.
We know that we cannot thank them by words but we can thank them by remembering
their good deeds and respecting them even if they are not with us today.
Celebrating this day means respecting and not forgetting the people behind this
Independence Day. As Filipinos we should always be proud of them.
I am proud that I am a Filipino. I
am proud that I have ancestors who sacrifice their lives for our country and
the reason why we have this kind of life today as Filipino. I will not forget
them. I will respect the Blood, Sweat and Tears of our ancestors just to get
freedom. I will never be ashamed that many lives were sacrificed just to have
freedom yet I will be thankful that we once had brave ancestors and heroes who
fought for us. I know that I can’t never be like them but I will always raise
our flag and be proud that I am a Filipino.
